The audience thought a goal was coming when Milagros Fraga got free with Loco Gatti in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bruno Sauveur, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. With an all-out effort, Peru's Loco Gatti threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Julian Murillo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When the referee blew the final whistle, Sportivo Mela Banco could leave the field as winners, despite Peru having more of the ball for most of the match.
