Itajaí Football Club's Juarês Gerber managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Efrain Moruga in the 13 minute of the game. In the 15th match minute, Itajaí Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Vítor Passos to maneuver through the defense. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norberto Abreu, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. In the 53rd minute, Lautaro Puig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The throw-in from Hugo Ferrant in the 56th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Itajaí Football Club's Norberto Abreu. Norberto Abreu might have been able to make a better finish in the 56th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Norberto Abreu ran back to his position shaking his head. André Piovezan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Axel Tasis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 70th match minute, Itajaí Football Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Narciso Severo to maneuver through the defense. 72 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 92nd minute of the game Hugo Ferrant made a throw-in which Lautaro Puig played forward. The Costa Rica support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
