After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jose Correa got a free kick in the 39th minute. Boca Gregorian Juniors's Dennis Staal suffered a concussion in the 42nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Jonathan Venegas's late challenge caught a Boca Gregorian Juniors's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan Venegas helped the player get up and apologised. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Theo Numan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Theo Numan to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Boca Gregorian Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bas Holst didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Tomas Illescas could shoot a difficult shot in the 60th minute, which Simon van Bronckhorst however easily saved by the left post. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simon van Bronckhorst having to interfere. Simon van Bronckhorst was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Patricio Costa capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Patricio Costa really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. In the 76th minute Ted Asselbergs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simon van Bronckhorst breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87th minute, one of Boca Gregorian Juniors:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Boca Gregorian Juniors. Patricio Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Simon van Bronckhorst having to make a save. After 95 minutes of play, Boca Gregorian Juniors's Theo Numan made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Venezuela eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
