Belchior Saldanha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 16 minutes into the game, Fulgencio Gartzi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 20 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot.
