The crowd rose to their feet as De Pelgrims's Perivaldo Eger slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Rolando Noboa. That made the score 1-0 after 15 minutes of play. In the 18th minute, Julian Murillo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Peru's zone, Mathias de Ruijter stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rolando Noboa came out of the goal and Mathias de Ruijter tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 23 minutes into the game, De Pelgrims's Mathias de Ruijter nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rolando Noboa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Zé Pedro Figueiredo made in the 27th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Twan Mol immediately put the ball in play. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Perivaldo Eger in the 30th minute. Eliseo Mina was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Mike Zoetmulder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 36th minute of play. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. Mike Zoetmulder made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Mike Zoetmulder, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 74th minute Mathias de Ruijter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Mike Zoetmulder made a huge save. Eliseo Mina received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mike Zoetmulder came out and tried to block the shot, but Eliseo Mina slotted it home off the left post making it 2-1 in the 80th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Eger came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Moises Gayoso hit a great ball. Mike Zoetmulder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mike Zoetmulder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Gallo, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. De Pelgrims's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
