Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Nildo Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nildo Braga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after Tio Patinhas's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Tio Patinhas's goalie and right to Agustín Saelices. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Tio Patinhas's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Nildo Braga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Nildo Braga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute of the match. Luisinho Alagoano's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luisinho Alagoano helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 played minutes Tio Patinhas got a freekick which was hit by Luisinho Alagoano. 18 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geraldo Miranda. Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 22nd minute of play forced Tio Patinhas's goalkeeper Nildo Braga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the match, Daniel Zorita had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nildo Braga. Tio Patinhas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Daniel Zorita was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Tio Patinhas's Nildo Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Agustín Saelices hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Tio Patinhas getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Geraldo Miranda hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nildo Braga having to interfere. Nildo Braga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 40th minute of the match. In the 41st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Tio Patinhas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Felix Montenegro advanced and headed the ball into goal, 0-3 in the 41st minute. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. The Tio Patinhas players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-3.

Tio Patinhas made a substitution. Ian Barral replaced Walmir Peres. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Nildo Braga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Daniel Zorita in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nildo Braga saved Tio Patinhas from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Felix Montenegro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Nildo Braga. That made the score 0-5 after 62 minutes of play. 65 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Geraldo Miranda came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nildo Braga having to interfere. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Tio Patinhas's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Geraldo Miranda charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Geraldo Miranda the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nildo Braga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 79th minute. In the 82nd minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Tio Patinhas's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nildo Braga made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Nildo Braga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 85th minute of the match. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tio Patinhas's Geraldo Miranda got his second yellow card of the match in the 89th minute. The referee ordered Geraldo Miranda off the ground. After 90 played minutes Tio Patinhas got a freekick which was hit by Geraldo Miranda. 91 minutes into the game, Ian Barral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tio Patinhas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador played a much better game than Tio Patinhas and deserved their victory. The Tio Patinhas players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
