After 3 played minutes Los Magios got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Lon. 6 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Severiano Bernat narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luis Andino hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Isidoro Endura in the 20th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Los Magios defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Severiano Bernat. The Los Magios fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Severiano Bernat should have stopped the shot. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Severiano Bernat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute Roberto Isidor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Los Magios's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Severiano Bernat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 43 played minutes Los Magios got a freekick which was hit by Angelino Micael. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Juan Sebastián Puig hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dirk Bos to strike the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roberto Isidor in the 56th minute. A collision led to Los Magios getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Narciso Eutropio hit a great ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Los Magios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Lizer didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Los Magios's Severiano Bernat played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 68th minute of play. Los Magios's Dirk Bos got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Los Magios's Ezequiel Pero was substituted for Isidoro Endura. Severiano Bernat showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Dirk Bos came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Julio Vera could save by the left post. Julio Vera was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Dirk Bos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 82 minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Los Magios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hector Lizer didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. After a defensive mix-up in Los Magios's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severiano Bernat came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Severiano Bernat read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
