In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Deportivo Marplatense's goalkeeper Mikael Sjögren, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 8 minutes into the match, Deportivo Marplatense's Cristobal Eneto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 10th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Garrido to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the match, Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristobal Eneto. Mikael Sjögren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Orlando Casaus in the 13th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mariano Lacasa in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mikael Sjögren saved Deportivo Marplatense from getting behind. In the 15th match minute, Chile was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Garrido to maneuver through the defense. Mikael Sjögren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mariano Lacasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristobal Eneto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. 29 minutes into the match, Deportivo Marplatense's Cristobal Eneto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Deportivo Marplatense were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Chile's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sven-Ove Olsson took the corner. The corner ended in Sven-Ove Olsson almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Chile's Thiago Pliego did a great save. Sven-Ove Olsson got in the 31st minute a good position and tried a long shot which to a great surprise passed a very astonished Thiago Pliego. This was a shot which ended in a score of 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 38th minute of play forced Deportivo Marplatense's goalkeeper Mikael Sjögren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thiago Pliego made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristobal Eneto in the 40th minute. Mikael Sjögren didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mariano Lacasa went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Felix Garrido charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felix Garrido the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Deportivo Marplatense booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Garrido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alan Tamayo charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alan Tamayo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alan Tamayo kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Sven-Ove Olsson, 48 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mariano Lacasa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Marplatense's Cristobal Eneto. But to his dismay, Cristobal Eneto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Deportivo Marplatense's Mikael Sjögren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Marplatense from getting a goal against them. Mikael Sjögren made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Orlando Casaus sent off a good shot on target. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristobal Eneto in the 72nd minute of play. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mikael Sjögren. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristobal Eneto in the 81st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cristobal Eneto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thiago Pliego read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute Deportivo Marplatense were awarded a corner. Sven-Ove Olsson went to the cornerflag to take it. 89 minutes into the match, Deportivo Marplatense's goalkeeper Mikael Sjögren had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. Deportivo Marplatense's Mikael Sjögren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 91st minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Marplatense from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Deportivo Marplatense booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Garrido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Deportivo Marplatense succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Chile had controlled the match.
