Peru's Luz Tejedor couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 7th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Yofré AFC. After some careless play in the Yofré AFC defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Venancio Cesario. The Yofré AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Venancio Cesario should have stopped the shot. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Poncio in the 12th minute of play. Carlos Dolfo made in the 13th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Blas Blasi however managed to control. After 15 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Venancio Cesario was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Yofré AFC booed when Peru was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Alvarado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Venancio Cesario dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 1-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blas Blasi in the 95th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
