A very nice done corner allowed Alonso Berganza to score against Sebastian Hellkvist in Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal. 0-1 after 5 minutes. Thanks to some nice moves Jakub Ziombkowski could shoot a difficult shot in the 13th minute, which Rolando Noboa however easily saved by the left post. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Éric Cantona in the 17th minute of the match. Éric Cantona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 21 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sebastian Hellkvist was left in no man's land by his defense there! 24 minutes into the game, Julian Murillo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Sebastian Hellkvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Éric Cantona in the 38th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Mina in the 40th minute of play forced Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Hellkvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mateusz Giertych charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mateusz Giertych the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Inter de Guayaquil FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Mateusz Giertych hit a great ball. Sebastian Hellkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 47th match minute, Inter de Guayaquil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mateusz Giertych to maneuver through the defense. Inter de Guayaquil FC made a substitution. Zé Pedro Baptista replaced Humberto Barragan. Mateusz Giertych hit a great freekick 49 minutes into the match.

In the 53rd minute Jörn Svartengren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Lorenzo Acutain heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Sebastian Hellkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 63rd minute of play. If Jörn Svartengren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jörn Svartengren, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Inter de Guayaquil FC's goalkeeper Sebastian Hellkvist, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Zé Pedro Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru made a substitution. Antonio Tenorio replaced Luz Tejedor. Through an outstanding action, after 94 minutes, Sebastian Hellkvist successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the final whistle sounded Peru left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Inter de Guayaquil FC.
