Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) 3 minutes into the match, Rubens Cabral notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Mexico's Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With an all-out effort, Mexico's Jailson Teles threw himself towards the right post 7 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luca Zorita, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Through an outstanding action, after 10 minutes, Jailson Teles successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by AVAÍ F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of AVAÍ F.C.'s goalie and right to Luca Zorita. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. AVAÍ F.C.'s manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 13th match minute, AVAÍ F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Innocenzio Corales to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, AVAÍ F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Jailson Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Jailson Teles in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Sági in the 25th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 26 minutes, Jailson Teles successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Jailson Teles in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jailson Teles came out and tried to block the shot, but Lautaro Mancebo slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 32nd minute. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dario Alegría, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dario Alegría in the 35th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Felix Luque during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of Mexico:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AVAÍ F.C.:s goal. After 46 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Felix Luque. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Walmyr Salles to make the kick off. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 54 minutes into the game, Manfredo Gerber was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AVAÍ F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. AVAÍ F.C. made a substitution. Tarcisio Chaves replaced Luiz Pombal. After 66 minutes AVAÍ F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. Rubens Cabral made in the 68th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Ivory Gunn immediately put the ball in play. After a rather tough play, AVAÍ F.C.'s Alex Sági got a free kick in the 72nd minute. In the 74th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jailson Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after AVAÍ F.C.'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Joel Gaona fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jailson Teles quite easily take care of the ball. 78 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Walmyr Salles. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. In the 83rd minute, AVAÍ F.C.'s Rubens Cabral dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Joel Gaona struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Jailson Teles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. The audience thought a goal was coming when Walmyr Salles got free with Dante Lacasa in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dante Lacasa was a little too slow when Alex Sági got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 93rd minute. The score was now 1-4. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. AVAÍ F.C. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
