Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nouvelle Vague. Juninho Juni hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Vito Genovese received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Joaquin Gayoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Juninho Juni tried to sneak it across the goal line. 19 minutes into the game, Juninho Juni recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. Juninho Juni showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Casimiro Ugutz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 25th minute of play forced Nouvelle Vague's goalkeeper Vicky Donda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vicky Donda stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maximiliano Escribano's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Nouvelle Vague's Casimiro Ugutz. But to his dismay, Casimiro Ugutz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. In the 33rd minute, Casimiro Ugutz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. The supporters of Nouvelle Vague booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Carvallo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute Casimiro Ugutz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Casimiro Ugutz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Vicky Donda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Francisco Seco in the 43rd minute of the match. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Arturo Carvallo made in the 54th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Jaime Cazalla. In the 61st match minute, Nouvelle Vague was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Efrain Cordarius to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Jaime Cazalla in the 62nd minute really tested Vicky Donda's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Casimiro Ugutz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After some careless play in the Uruguay defense, Casimiro Ugutz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. The Uruguay fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin Gayoso should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luis Henrico in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luis Henrico in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Nouvelle Vague's attentive Paulo Renato Corrêa managed to snatch the ball when Camilo Franco made a throw-in in the 77th minute of the game. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Luis Henrico's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. In the 82nd minute Luis Henrico shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The corner led Nouvelle Vague's Hugo Villaverde to fire away a dangerous shot which Joaquin Gayoso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Luis Henrico took the ball and in the 88 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 8-0. In the 92nd minute, Luis Henrico made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 9-0. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Henrico in the 96th minute of play. Uruguay's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
