Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerónimo Molina in the 30th minute of the match. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Eliseo Mina struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Candido Piedra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. In the 45th minute of the match, Luz Tejedor tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Candido Piedra saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Candido Piedra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerónimo Molina, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Luz Tejedor took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Candido Piedra. Candido Piedra dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Gerónimo Molina could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. The corner ended in Pedro Reyes almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Peru's Rolando Noboa did a great save. Recai Taykurt made in the 69th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Sergiu Zgrăbunţa immediately put the ball in play. In the 73rd minute Luz Tejedor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Candido Piedra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sem Barang in the 80th minute. If Sergiu Zgrăbunţa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. In the 89th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Candido Piedra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eliseo Mina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
