An unexpectedly hard shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 10th minute of play forced El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's goalkeeper Carmelo Orkatz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carmelo Orkatz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Berganza recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pablo Mendiko hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Venancio Inko took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomas Berganza during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa made a substitution. El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Damian Tulio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 81st minute, Dario Egoi made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. After a rather tough play, El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa's Iker Bartolome got a free kick in the 84th minute. When Isidoro Sarmiento came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isidoro Sarmiento couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. El Tiki-Tiki de Cappa had won after a very even match.
