Jaime Pardo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 27th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Hector Covarrubias might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dylan Van den Broeck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hector Covarrubias ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Xavier Zoido during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 31st minute, Xavier Zoido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Daniel Elsens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 51st minute, Remie Van Halbeeck hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 52 minutes into the game, Ivan Prats was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Paraguay's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Waterhoek the free kick. The supporters of Waterhoek booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Prats didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 56th match minute, Waterhoek was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Remie Van Halbeeck to maneuver through the defense. Dylan Van den Broeck was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 76th minute, Hector Covarrubias made a precise shot to the right of Dylan Van den Broeck. Waterhoek's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 84 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goalkeeper Jacobo Nores had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Elsens. 86 minutes into the game, Paraguay's Jaime Pardo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jacobo Nores made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Elsens in the 96th minute.
