Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Al-Ahli. After 4 minutes, Alexander Carballo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Costa Rica and the Al-Ahli players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 4 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Carballo. After 5 played minutes, Al-Ahli's 최 마 shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Benito Sanz came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Al-Ahli reached it. When Al-Ahli's Matey Dachevski in the 6th minute got a chance for a shot 6th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. When Alan Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alan Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. Al-Ahli made a substitution. Osama Al Mansor replaced Shaban Al Motaire. Clud Almagro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Puig in the 11th minute of play. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Al-Ahli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Åke Myr didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18th minute, Eliseo Noboa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Axel Tasis's late challenge caught a Al-Ahli's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Axel Tasis helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Axel Tasis hit a great ball. Eliseo Noboa scored 0-2 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Clud Almagro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matey Dachevski in the 26th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mamdouh Hayat got free with Benito Sanz in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 30 played minutes Mamdouh Hayat rounded Costa Rica's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. After 34 minutes, Matey Dachevski made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 37th minute, Mamdouh Hayat fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When the match clock showed 43 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Matey Dachevski sped through Costa Rica's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. Matey Dachevski received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Al-Ahli's Matey Dachevski in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Axel Tasis to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Mamdouh Hayat stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Mamdouh Hayat tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Lautaro Puig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matey Dachevski in the 54th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aaron Alcocer's late challenge caught a Al-Ahli's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Aaron Alcocer helped the player get up and apologised. After 57 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Aaron Alcocer. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Al-Ahli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mamdouh Hayat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matey Dachevski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Alan Moruga was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 61 minutes had been played. In the 61st minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Matey Dachevski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 78th minute Matey Dachevski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Mamdouh Hayat put it in 5-2 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. 92 minutes into the match, Al-Ahli's goalkeeper Clud Almagro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Puig. Al-Ahli's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
