Emanuel Emander received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pedro Manzanares came out and tried to block the shot, but Emanuel Emander slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 9th minute. Zafer Hürsel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abram Sarmiento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Axel Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zafer Hürsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Montenegro in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Axel Montenegro in the 29th minute of play forced FC Zenit Saint Petersburg's goalkeeper Zafer Hürsel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Zafer Hürsel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Axel Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Håkan Kjellman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Colombia's Axel Montenegro was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Zafer Hürsel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Håkan Kjellman was the one to do the kick off. Zafer Hürsel was out of position in the 54 minute of play, and Santino Seco capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Santino Seco really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Pedro Manzanares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emanuel Emander in the 57th minute of play. When Emanuel Emander came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the FC Zenit Saint Petersburg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Emanuel Emander couldn't finish the play. The supporters of FC Zenit Saint Petersburg booed when Colombia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kevin Mastache didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Emanuel Emander managed to get in a good position for a shot. If Valentin Ivarsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the match, Håkan Kjellman notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of Colombia's Pedro Manzanares. Pedro Manzanares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
