Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Invur Fondos de México FC. Hermengildo Hermelando took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Noboa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Romain Van den Berge had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Romain Van den Berge was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. In the 32nd minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the match, Dreas Van de Wal notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Axel Tasis put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Hermengildo Hermelando. After the first half Invur Fondos de México FC were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Axel Tasis made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Axel Tasis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hermengildo Hermelando. Invur Fondos de México FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Axel Tasis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-4. 57 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dreas Van de Wal. The supporters of Invur Fondos de México FC booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermengildo Hermelando stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Axel Tasis's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romain Van den Berge, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Dreas Van de Wal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Invur Fondos de México FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Dreas Van de Wal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Benito Sanz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Jacinto Ponc came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Invur Fondos de México FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacinto Ponc couldn't finish the play. In the 74th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. Axel Tasis went to the cornerflag to take it. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo Guillelmus's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Ponc in the 94th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Leopoldo Guillelmus kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. The Costa Rica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Invur Fondos de México FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
