The throw-in from Juan Rubio in the 20th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by AS Maraschin Calcio CIMZ's Hamílton Tepedino. AS Maraschin Calcio CIMZ's attentive Sílvio Godoi managed to snatch the ball when Efrain Moruga made a throw-in in the 28th minute of the game. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nando Abraão in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulisses Marquez in the 32nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 37 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga threw the ball into play from the sideline. AS Maraschin Calcio CIMZ's Sílvio Godoi quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. If Ulisses Marquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Efrain Moruga made in the 42nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by AS Maraschin Calcio CIMZ's Sidney de Amorim. In the 47th minute, Ulisses Marquez made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
