With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Fernandinho Albuquerque tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcelinho Abraão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play. Daniel Zorita was extremely unlucky when he, in the 93rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Karaboudjan.
