Amadeo Tristan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Real Suciedad booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alan Campos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Real Suciedad's Amadeo Tristan slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jacobo Nores. That made the score 1-0 after 18 minutes of play. In the 23rd minute, Amadeo Tristan reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jacobo Nores. The goal made the score 2-0. Roberto Elazar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 30 played minutes Paraguay got a freekick which was hit by Hector Covarrubias. Paraguay's Jaime Pardo managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Julio Mazuste in the 36 minute of the game. The supporters of Real Suciedad booed when Paraguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Escribano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Jaime Pardo made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Jaime Pardo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Cyryl Skonieczny was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some careless play in the Real Suciedad defense, Jaime Pardo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cyryl Skonieczny. The Real Suciedad fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cyryl Skonieczny should have stopped the shot. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Cyryl Skonieczny tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Paraguay's Xavier Zoido got a free kick in the 59th minute. Real Suciedad's Amadeo Tristan got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 64th minute, Jaime Pardo reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cyryl Skonieczny. The goal made the score 2-3. Amadeo Tristan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Roberto Cabañas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Suciedad's supporters rose to their feet, but Roberto Cabañas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacobo Nores breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 91 minutes into the match, Real Suciedad's goalkeeper Cyryl Skonieczny had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jaime Pardo.
