When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Daniel Zorita put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Alexander Domínguez. 26 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elano dos Santos. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 28thth minute, when Atlético Hacha's Jose Llorienzo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Alexander Domínguez didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian Sancho went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Alexander Domínguez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of the match. After having played for 43 minutes, Jose Llorienzo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atlético Hacha's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jose Llorienzo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Atlético Hacha players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 1-3.

In the 55th match minute, Atlético Hacha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elano dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. Juan Sebastián Puig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Atlético Hacha defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexander Domínguez. The Atlético Hacha fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexander Domínguez should have stopped the shot. Alexander Domínguez made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Alexander Domínguez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. After 86 played minutes Atlético Hacha got a freekick which was hit by Cristian Kepa. Alexander Domínguez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 88th minute.
