Invur Fondos de México FC's Hermengildo Hermelando tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 47 minutes into the match, Miguel Miralles had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hermengildo Hermelando. Invur Fondos de México FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Miguel Miralles was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Jacinto Ponc's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jacinto Ponc helped the player get up and apologised. Alex Cambeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermengildo Hermelando having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Invur Fondos de México FC's zone, Tomas Berganza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermengildo Hermelando came out of the goal and Tomas Berganza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 88th minute, Lukasz Banaszak hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute, Tomas Berganza got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Panama's Felipe Ros got a free kick in the 95th minute. Feliciano Jaen took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 96th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcos Cotilla. Panama's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 97 minutes into the match, Jacinto Ponc notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Panama's Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Panama eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
