Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Berganza stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Velasco Rollan got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Velasco Rollan in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcos Cotilla prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Panama booed when Sociedad Anónima was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marino Malet didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Velasco Rollan in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcos Cotilla saved Panama from getting behind. Gianluigi Buffon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miguel Miralles in the 69th minute of the match. In the 71st match minute, Sociedad Anónima was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sengrat Nazario to maneuver through the defense. Sociedad Anónima's Cordaryal Valdecañas was substituted for Ramos Trasmiera. In the 73rd minute, Sengrat Nazario hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 85th minute, Felix Larren left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sociedad Anónima fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-6. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Velasco Rollan in the 89th minute of play. A hard shot 93 in the game by Felix Larren from a close distance when the talented Marcos Cotilla managed to make a qualified save. Panama's players were relieved.
