Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Justo Ruy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. 23 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonatan Palban. In the 24th minute, Lorenzo Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Justo Ruy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice moves Jonatan Palban could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Dante Lacasa however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 33rd minute of play forced NUMBA's goalkeeper Justo Ruy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Mexico booed when NUMBA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santiago Abastas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 39th minute. Justo Ruy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 44th minute of play. 49 minutes into the match, NUMBA's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Justo Ruy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, NUMBA's Justo Ruy got control of the ball when Joel Gaona tried to sneak it across the goal line. Justo Ruy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 74th minute of play. A collision led to NUMBA getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Mario Silvino hit a great ball. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Justo Ruy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mexico walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
