Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Daniel Zorita kicked off to start the match. Erik Kassentoft showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 3rd minute of the match. The supporters of Ardiles booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfonso Astudillo charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfonso Astudillo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 6 played minutes Ardiles got a freekick which was hit by Alfonso Astudillo. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 7th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donato Venerando in the 9th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Venerando in the 12th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Erik Kassentoft tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 20th minute of the match Alfonso Astudillo completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Alfonso Astudillo a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Alfonso Astudillo kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Erik Kassentoft made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Kassentoft having to interfere. A collision led to Ardiles getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jimeno Abastas hit a great ball. Erik Kassentoft came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 39th minute Indiana Jones shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Donato Venerando to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Ardiles's goalkeeper Erik Kassentoft had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. Ardiles's Erik Kassentoft proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Ardiles from getting a goal against them. When Lisandro Estevon fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ardiles's protests and gave Lisandro Estevon a yellow card for diving instead. After 55 played minutes Ardiles got a freekick which was hit by Lisandro Estevon. A collision led to Ardiles getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Cristo Basajaun hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Zorita was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Kassentoft breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Erik Kassentoft made a huge save. Erik Kassentoft was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Cristian Sancho showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 60 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Ardiles's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erik Kassentoft came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 65th play minute Daniel Zorita came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Erik Kassentoft. 1-3. In the 69th minute, Agustín Saelices ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Erik Kassentoft was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 73rd minute, Lisandro Estevon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 74 minutes into the match, Ardiles's goalkeeper Erik Kassentoft had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. In the 77th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Erik Kassentoft. Erik Kassentoft yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. After a rather tough play, Ardiles's Bo-Erik Samuelsson got a free kick in the 80th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Erik Kassentoft made a huge save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Indiana Jones, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 92 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 1-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Erik Kassentoft was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ecuador played a much better game than Ardiles and deserved their victory. The Ardiles players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
