An unexpectedly hard shot by Guaberto Otoniel in the 21st minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gavino Mendez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 26 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Urtsin came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. El CUERVO perfeto's Emilio Gabirel got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute Guaberto Otoniel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Filiberto Gaitano tried to sneak it across the goal line. With his leg Jonathan Ferrant managed to avoid a goal in the 33rdth minute, when El CUERVO perfeto's Emilio Gabirel fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 36th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jose Correa to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guaberto Otoniel in the 39th minute of play. It was beautiful to see El CUERVO perfeto's Irinel Aldea in action when he in the 44th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Venezuela booed when El CUERVO perfeto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damião Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 58th match minute, El CUERVO perfeto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damião Maia to maneuver through the defense.
