Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Christofere Van Cleijnenbreughel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Joélson Van Landschoot in the 8thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 10 minutes into the match, Milan's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Sune Mur reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Milan getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Mats Söderström hit a great ball. Christofere Van Cleijnenbreughel's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jonathan Ferrant read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. Sune Mur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patricio Costa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sune Mur showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sune Mur having to interfere. Joélson Van Landschoot struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Milan. After having played for 36 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Joélson Van Landschoot tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joélson Van Landschoot, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Jonathan Ferrant was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Christofere Van Cleijnenbreughel capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Christofere Van Cleijnenbreughel really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Christofere Van Cleijnenbreughel made a kick off. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute Joélson Van Landschoot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Milan's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joélson Van Landschoot in the 57th minute. After 59 played minutes Milan got a freekick which was hit by Mats Söderström. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. When Joélson Van Landschoot came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Milan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joélson Van Landschoot couldn't finish the play. Sune Mur made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tomas Illescas in the 68th minute. Joélson Van Landschoot recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 71st minute, Tomas Strömbom hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Milan's Sune Mur got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Milan's Aurelio Mrabet got a free kick in the 81st minute. Christofere Van Cleijnenbreughel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patricio Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Milan walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
