After a rather tough play, pianurese's Manuel Henriques got a free kick in the 7th minute. 8 minutes into the game, Tomas Illescas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Dag Ekström was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 14th minute, Silvestre Corte-Real hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sidónio Ribas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonathan Ferrant came out and tried to block the shot, but Sidónio Ribas slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 17th minute. 24 minutes into the match, pianurese's Elias Domingos broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. The supporters of pianurese booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sidónio Ribas in the 27th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dag Ekström narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidónio Ribas in the 34th minute of play. In the 40th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dag Ekström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the pianurese defense, Patricio Costa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dag Ekström. The pianurese fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dag Ekström should have stopped the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Salvador Gisbert hit a great ball. In the 57thth minute of the game Sidónio Ribas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sidónio Ribas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saúl Bulhosa in the 67th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Tomas Illescas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Dag Ekström. That made the score 1-3 in the 73 minute of play. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match clock showed 82 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Sidónio Ribas sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidónio Ribas in the 91st minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Venezuela had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
