Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Daniel Zorita made the kick off which started today's match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. After 9 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Fabio Maldonado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 12th minute of play. Fabio Maldonado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Fabio Maldonado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 15th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Maldonado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabián Fuentes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. With an all-out effort, Once Virgos FC's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 38 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Fabián Fuentes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 41st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabio Maldonado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felix Montes kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Luis Andino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Maldonado having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fabián Fuentes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 50 minutes into the match, Once Virgos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Fabio Maldonado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Once Virgos FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 1-1 in the right cross in the 64th match minute before Fabio Maldonado had time to react. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eustaquio Rumaldo in the 68th minute of play. 69 minutes into the game, Felix Montenegro recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fabio Maldonado. Felix Montenegro showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Fabio Maldonado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Once Virgos FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Once Virgos FC's Fabio Maldonado proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Once Virgos FC from getting a goal against them. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 80th minute. Fabio Maldonado was a little too slow when Cristian Sancho got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 89th minute. The score was now 1-3. After a defensive mix-up in Once Virgos FC's zone, Cristian Sancho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Maldonado came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 95 minutes into the game, Antonio Arias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Once Virgos FC the free kick. Ecuador played a much better game than Once Virgos FC and deserved their victory. The Once Virgos FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
