Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Daniel Zorita got the match started through his kick off. 7 minutes had been played when some careless play by Independiente's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Felix Montenegro got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Pepe Santoro quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After having played for 13 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pepe Santoro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isidoro Beltran fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Pepe Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Pepe Santoro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Ecuador's Luis Andino in the 27th minute got a chance for a shot 27th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Independiente's goalie prevented a goal. After 27 minutes, Luis Andino made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Independiente's Pepe Santoro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isidoro Beltran in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 34th minute of play forced Independiente's goalkeeper Pepe Santoro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorg Pieters in the 35th minute of the match. Pepe Santoro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agustín Saelices in the 38th minute of play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Øssur í Lon Jacobsen kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 42nd minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pepe Santoro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Isidoro Beltran stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Pepe Santoro made a huge save. Pepe Santoro was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Daniel Zorita showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 54 minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorg Pieters, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 60thth minute of the game Jorg Pieters who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 62 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 69th match minute, Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorg Pieters to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Independiente's Pepe Santoro got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorg Pieters recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 81 minutes into the match, Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Pepe Santoro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Beltran in the 84th minute of play. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Pepe Santoro made a huge save. A collision led to Independiente getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Øssur í Lon Jacobsen hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jorg Pieters blasted a shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Pepe Santoro made a huge save. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
