The Venezuela fans' excitement grew in the 12th match minute when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 18th minute of the match, Abraham Dutton tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jonathan Ferrant saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Léopold Castro in the 19th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arden Poulin in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina got a free kick in the 38th minute. Jonathan Ferrant was a little too slow when Arden Poulin got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 42nd minute. The score was now 3-1. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Patricio Costa hit a great ball. In the 47th minute, Léopold Castro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Persepolis F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Léopold Castro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Léopold Castro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Santos Perez having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Léopold Castro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Léopold Castro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Avery Merrill in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. In the 63rd minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santos Perez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arden Poulin in the 70th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Persepolis F.C.'s Léopold Castro shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 6-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Persepolis F.C.'s Andy Duff was substituted for Gwidon Seliga. Arden Poulin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. The supporters of Persepolis F.C. booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Avery Merrill kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Léopold Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Persepolis F.C.'s Arden Poulin got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. There was no doubt that Persepolis F.C. were the better team. Persepolis F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
