The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Candido Hendrickx did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Rolando Noboa 21 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 24th minute of play forced Pilar FC's goalkeeper Sixto Luke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Julian Murillo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sixto Luke was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Candido Hendrickx, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 35 minutes into the match, Pilar FC's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Sixto Luke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 36 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Candido Hendrickx came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pilar FC's goalkeeper Sixto Luke, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pilar FC made a substitution. Guus Koole replaced Cristian Jenaro. Alonso Berganza got a throw-in 59 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Moises Gayoso. The throw-in from Alonso Berganza in the 64th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Pilar FC's Eustacio Baldovino. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
