In the 15th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Spartak de Txurdi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doğan Ferikoğlu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eulalio Majua having to interfere. Eulalio Majua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the match, Spartak de Txurdi's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Eulalio Majua reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charro Revuelta in the 28th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 30th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pang Chuan in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 36 minutes into the match, Spartak de Txurdi's Pang Chuan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Eulalio Majua made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pang Chuan went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pang Chuan in the 55th minute of play. In the 56th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. John Holmberg's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. John Holmberg helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th minute, John Holmberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the match, Spartak de Txurdi's Pang Chuan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charro Revuelta in the 76th minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Eulalio Majua tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Spartak de Txurdi made a substitution. Regis Jaen replaced Nickolas Horemans. When Spartak de Txurdi's Pang Chuan in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
