Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Mehmet Hakkı Oğuzkan made a huge save. Thomas Jan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Mehmet Hakkı Oğuzkan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 张学友 楚城 in the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute of the match, Patricio Costa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mehmet Hakkı Oğuzkan saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With 36 minutes on the clock, Mark Mager commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 37 minutes into the match, Carlisle United's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Mehmet Hakkı Oğuzkan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 张学友 楚城 in the 40th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Guillermo Mariano's late challenge caught a Carlisle United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, 洪振义 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th minute of the game Russ Blain made a throw-in which Thomas Winfield played forward. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 洪振义 in the 79th minute of the match. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Carlisle United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Jan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 88th minute, Tomas Illescas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Joshua Secada hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Mehmet Hakkı Oğuzkan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute, 洪振义 made a precise shot to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Carlisle United had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
