Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 13 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Behram Vacit. Thibaut Vandamme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Felix Montes was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 25 minutes into the match. After 24 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ecuador! Julio Vera went to the wrong direction when Dieter Denys was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. In the 31st minute, Cristian Sancho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thibaut Vandamme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 34th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the game, Berenjenas de Punto Fijo's Dieter Denys nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Julio Vera made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Alvaro Ramiréz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Alvaro Ramiréz sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Berenjenas de Punto Fijo booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alvaro Ramiréz in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thibaut Vandamme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. When Berenjenas de Punto Fijo's Alvaro Ramiréz in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. It was Dieter Denys who took care of the corner kick. Berenjenas de Punto Fijo's Dieter Denys was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Behram Vacit managed to get in a good position for a shot. Berenjenas de Punto Fijo's supporters rose to their feet, but Behram Vacit was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Behram Vacit in the 94th minute of play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thibaut Vandamme. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. The Berenjenas de Punto Fijo support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
