A collision led to Golden Hills getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Orville Hough hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Egil Östlund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 13 minutes, Ward Doran managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Golden Hills's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ward Doran was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 16th minute of play forced Golden Hills's goalkeeper Egil Östlund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 17th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Golden Hills's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 18 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montes. 20 minutes into the match, Golden Hills's Geoffrey Vasquez sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Golden Hills's Egil Östlund played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 28th minute of play. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Egil Östlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Montenegro in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Egil Östlund saved Golden Hills from getting behind. After 39 minutes, Felix Montenegro made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Golden Hills's Egil Östlund tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 43 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Egil Östlund was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 45th minute, Camilo Gisbert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Egil Östlund in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Golden Hills's Egil Östlund got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 90 minutes into the match, Golden Hills's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Egil Östlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Camilo Gisbert fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Camilo Gisbert a yellow card for diving instead. The Golden Hills fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
