In the 30th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. 巩响默 was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. 苏希城's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 苏希城 in the 56th minute of play. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 苏希城 in the 79th minute of play. 81 minutes into the match, 上海嘉定鱼腩俱乐部队's 苏希城 sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but 上海嘉定鱼腩俱乐部队 were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
