The coaching staff of Ecuador protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Juan Sebastián Puig had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Hartmann Futebol Clube:s goal. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hartmann Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Jefferson Oliveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jefferson Oliveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Jefferson Oliveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Carlos Alberto Cavalcante didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 75th minute of play forced Hartmann Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Jefferson Oliveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Svante Magnusson let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 76th minute shot 0-3 at rihgt post. Carlos Alberto Cavalcante kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. 85 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Wiktor Askelöf came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Svante Magnusson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Jefferson Oliveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Cavalcante in the 91st minute of the match. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 94 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jefferson Oliveira. Jefferson Oliveira dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Ecuador lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
