The supporters of Peru booed when Scofield was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alto Roca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Scofield's Alvaro Valente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 14th minute of play. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Feliciano Baumar in the 18th minute of play. 20 minutes into the match, Feliciano Baumar notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Peru's Rolando Noboa. Rolando Noboa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alvaro Valente was a little too slow when Julian Murillo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-1. Luz Tejedor scored 2-1 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alvaro Valente, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpected shot in the 32nd minute by Luz Tejedor got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 34th match minute, Scofield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaron Bemabe to maneuver through the defense. 36 minutes into the match, Scofield's goalkeeper Alvaro Valente had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julian Murillo. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Alvaro Valente made a huge save. In the 43rd minute Feliciano Baumar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 44th minute, Feliciano Baumar made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Julian Murillo to make the kick off. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 58 minutes of play, Scofield's Feliciano Baumar made it 2-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rolando Noboa was left in no man's land by his defense there! Roberto-Carlos Brasil hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. 63 minutes into the match, Scofield's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Alvaro Valente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Aaron Bemabe in the 66 minute of the game. When Julian Murillo came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Peru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julian Murillo couldn't finish the play. In the 69th match minute, Scofield was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fabio Iago to maneuver through the defense. Scofield's Alvaro Valente played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 71st minute of play. Eliseo Mina's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alvaro Valente read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Aaron Bemabe in the 78th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Alvaro Valente showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Murillo in the 79th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 82nd minute of play forced Scofield's goalkeeper Alvaro Valente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alvaro Valente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 84th minute of play. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. In the 87th minute Peru were awarded a corner. Eliseo Mina went to the cornerflag to take it. Eliseo Mina made a great header on Peru's corner, it was just that Scofield's Alvaro Valente managed to reach the ball for a save. A sloppy throw-in by Aaron Bemabe in the 89th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Alonso Berganza. Peru's defense didn't have a chance, in the 93rd minute, when Cayetano Urdin scored to the left of an out of position Rolando Noboa, making the score, 2-4.
