Ward Doran's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Zorita read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 8th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Ward Doran ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ricardo Zorita was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Golden Hills's goalkeeper Egil Östlund, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of El Salvador booed when Golden Hills was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryan Clifford didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Mateo Leguizamo managed to get in a good position for a shot. El Salvador's supporters rose to their feet, but Mateo Leguizamo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Egil Östlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ricardo Zorita took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ryan Bellamy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in El Salvador's zone, Ward Doran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricardo Zorita came out of the goal and Ward Doran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Geoffrey Vasquez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ward Doran scored 0-2 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricardo Zorita, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mateo Leguizamo during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mateo Leguizamo kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Moises Fernandino to make the kick off. El Salvador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 58th minute, when Geoffrey Vasquez scored to the left of an out of position Ricardo Zorita, making the score, 0-3. Ward Doran sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sandy Hollandsworth made in the 65th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Geoffrey Vasquez immediately put the ball in play. In the 67th minute, Valentino Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geoffrey Vasquez in the 71st minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the game, Golden Hills's Geoffrey Vasquez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. In the 75th minute, Luis Rubio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute, Ward Doran reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ricardo Zorita. The goal made the score 0-5. A hard shot 80 in the game by Ward Doran from a close distance when the talented Ricardo Zorita managed to make a qualified save. El Salvador's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Geoffrey Vasquez in the 82nd minute of play forced El Salvador's goalkeeper Ricardo Zorita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Orville Hough hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. El Salvador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 88th minute, when Ward Doran scored to the left of an out of position Ricardo Zorita, making the score, 0-7. Ryan Bellamy might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ricardo Zorita. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ryan Bellamy ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 96 minutes, Geoffrey Vasquez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Golden Hills's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geoffrey Vasquez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Golden Hills played a much better game than El Salvador and deserved their victory. The El Salvador players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
