After having played for 8 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lizardi Montanez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Lizardi Montanez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 18th minute of the match. Gil Gascon hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Felix Montenegro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lizardi Montanez was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. 27 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sporting Chilcano's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Ecuador's Agustín Saelices to fire away a dangerous shot which Lizardi Montanez despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Lizardi Montanez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Sporting Chilcano booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Primitivo Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Sporting Chilcano's Armando Santotis dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sporting Chilcano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul Trielles didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lizardi Montanez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristian Sancho scored 1-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lizardi Montanez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Antonio Arias fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Antonio Arias a yellow card for diving instead. 45 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Santotis came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Sporting Chilcano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Gascon didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Armando Santotis made the kick off in the second half. Lizardi Montanez was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 58th minute. The score was now 1-2. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Armando Santotis in the 64th minute of play. Heli Monsalve blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Sporting Chilcano's Baiarte Cerdeira was substituted for Asier Abello. In the 73rd minute, Daniel Zorita fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Lizardi Montanez, passed just outside the right post. Armando Santotis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lizardi Montanez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Santotis in the 89th minute of play. After 90 minutes of play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lizardi Montanez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Baiarte Cerdeira struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Chilcano. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
