After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Julian Murillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Murillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Javier Abin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luz Tejedor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Javier Abin having to interfere. In the 15th minute, Eliseo Mina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Santiago Gavilanes got a throw-in 16 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Santi Gavilanes. If Reinaldo Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reinaldo Freitas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Peru! In the 24th minute, Santi Gavilanes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alonso Berganza kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Reinaldo Freitas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo Freitas in the 37th minute of the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Peru players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
