If Hector Covarrubias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 8 minutes into the game, Kaká Garcia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Atlético Capixaba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paraguay the free kick. Hector Covarrubias took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Patrick Teles. Patrick Teles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Hector Covarrubias received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Patrick Teles came out and tried to block the shot, but Hector Covarrubias slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 13th minute. Hector Covarrubias could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Patrick Teles made a huge save. Patrick Teles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Pardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 18th minute, Hector Covarrubias made a precise shot to the right of Patrick Teles. Atlético Capixaba's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. 21 minutes into the game, Alan Campos recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Patrick Teles. Alan Campos showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-0. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Patrick Teles having to interfere. Jose Sanz made in the 45th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Atlético Capixaba's Romeu Diniz. The long shot by Juan Diego Tenorio in the 48th minute really tested Patrick Teles's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Durvalino Torres was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Atlético Capixaba's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Patrick Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Primitivo Escribano in the 77th minute of play forced Atlético Capixaba's goalkeeper Patrick Teles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Atlético Capixaba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Acácio Figueiredo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juan Diego Tenorio hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Primitivo Escribano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Patrick Teles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 99 minutes into the match, Atlético Capixaba's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Patrick Teles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
