Socanelas FC were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after Mexico's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mor Šego took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Mexico's goalie and right to Vinícius Urbano. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Mexico's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Mexico's Luca Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Edvaldo Tande in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Luca Zorita was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. In the 27th minute, Sílvio Luís Penha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 28 minutes into the match, Socanelas FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Edvaldo Tande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 29th minute of play forced Socanelas FC's goalkeeper Edvaldo Tande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Vinícius Urbano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 53rd minute, Facundo Cadaval got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tanek Dziechciowski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Gaona struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Edvaldo Tande didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. After 60 played minutes Socanelas FC got a freekick which was hit by Haitz Fabelo. If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 62nd minute, Tanek Dziechciowski made a precise shot to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. If Tanek Dziechciowski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 69 minutes, Sílvio Luís Penha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Socanelas FC and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 77th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvaldo Tande saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87thth minute of the game Lautaro Mancebo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Socanelas FC's Edvaldo Tande was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Socanelas FC fans' excitement grew in the 91st match minute when Socanelas FC's Tanek Dziechciowski looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Facundo Cadaval in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Edvaldo Tande saved Socanelas FC from getting behind.
