In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind U. de Tarapacá's goalkeeper Ariel Balboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 27 minutes into the match, U. de Tarapacá's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Ariel Balboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafael Demanet hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Emmanuel Reyes kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Domingo Barcena to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Julian Murillo made a precise shot to the right of Ariel Balboa. U. de Tarapacá's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Peru's Alonso Berganza quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Estevan Espínola, made in the 74th minute of the game. Xaime Morales made in the 79th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Mark Devia. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Orfilio Orbañanos in the 80th minute of the match. Julian Murillo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Ariel Balboa made a huge save. Julian Murillo had several of the U. de Tarapacá's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 87 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Ariel Balboa as he didn't even see the shot coming. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than U. de Tarapacá throughout the match.
