Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgilio Tabor in the 8th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Marin Melinte was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Calea Sagului's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Costa Rica the free kick. Marin Melinte kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Abel Carballo got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 16th minute, Efrain Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 19 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matei Rainea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of FC Calea Sagului booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseo Noboa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Adrian Nicolae made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Eliseo Noboa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matei Rainea having to interfere. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Aaron Alcocer hit a great ball. Matei Rainea didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliseo Noboa went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the FC Calea Sagului defense, Lautaro Puig kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Matei Rainea. The FC Calea Sagului fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Matei Rainea should have stopped the shot. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The audience was convinced that Adrian Nicolae's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benito Sanz was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 51st minute. After 54 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Juan Rubio. FC Calea Sagului's Aurel Ionașcu couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 55th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Costa Rica. Adrian Nicolae received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matei Rainea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Matei Rainea was out of position in the 66 minute of play, and Aaron Alcocer capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aaron Alcocer really showed his touch with that goal: 2-3. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adrian Nicolae in the 69th minute of play. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Călin Feroiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 75th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Axel Tasis to maneuver through the defense. After 82 minutes of play, FC Calea Sagului's Adrian Nicolae made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. After 89 minutes of play, FC Calea Sagului's Adrian Nicolae made it 4-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adrian Nicolae in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benito Sanz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. There was no doubt that FC Calea Sagului were the better team. FC Calea Sagului's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
