PAOK Irakliou's Thodoris Patsatzis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 5th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniil Barlas in the 7th minute of play. 8 minutes into the match, PAOK Irakliou's goal looked a bit too open when Patricio Costa came free, but Thodoris Patsatzis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Christodoulos Tsagris might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathan Ferrant. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christodoulos Tsagris ran back to his position shaking his head. 14 minutes into the game, PAOK Irakliou's Christodoulos Tsagris nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. With a little luck, PAOK Irakliou's Thodoris Patsatzis got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Rigoberto Mina got a free kick in the 20th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniil Barlas, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Daniil Barlas sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniil Barlas in the 25th minute of play. PAOK Irakliou's Thodoris Patsatzis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save PAOK Irakliou from getting a goal against them. 34 minutes into the match, PAOK Irakliou's Trifon Takounakis sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniil Barlas in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Joshua Secada got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After 43 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Venegas. After having played for 44 minutes, Daniil Barlas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PAOK Irakliou's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniil Barlas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thodoris Patsatzis made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tomas Illescas to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Daniil Barlas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Ferrant was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Daniil Barlas took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. PAOK Irakliou made a substitution. Alekos Sapounelis replaced Konstantinos Katsouranis. 67 minutes into the match, PAOK Irakliou's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Thodoris Patsatzis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Tomas Illescas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Thodoris Patsatzis quite easily take care of the ball. A collision led to PAOK Irakliou getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Themis Tsopakis hit a great ball. Christodoulos Tsagris hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. When Tomas Illescas fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Tomas Illescas a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of PAOK Irakliou booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Illescas didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Daniil Barlas's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, Jonathan Ferrant skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Daniil Barlas did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-4 to the left of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant 81 minutes into the match. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. When Christodoulos Tsagris came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the PAOK Irakliou fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christodoulos Tsagris couldn't finish the play. If Daniil Barlas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
