In the 13th minute Dariusz Malewicz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Edelmiro Abeitia firmly grabbed it by the left post. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laureano Montae, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After 34 minutes, Daniel Zorita made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. PICO y PALA's Edelmiro Abeitia tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Ecuador booed when PICO y PALA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Octavio Iraido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laureano Montae in the 44th minute of the match. In the 46th minute Laureano Montae shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Dariusz Malewicz made the kick off in the second half. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edelmiro Abeitia having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edelmiro Abeitia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 63 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 66th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edelmiro Abeitia was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Edelmiro Abeitia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 71st minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 77th minute Laureano Montae shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to PICO y PALA getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Dario Hitz hit a great ball. In the 80th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Laureano Montae's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Edelmiro Abeitia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 87th minute of play. Necaettin Erzan struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PICO y PALA. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
