The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lucas Faro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Mugur Cumpan in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 54th minute. Luis Andino might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mugur Cumpan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
